Sonapur Community Hall Project

The Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons initiated and completed the renovation of the Community Hall of Gariaghuli Karbi Mahila Samiti, Tepesia, Sonapur, with its Grand Inauguration held on 23rd February 2026 at the same venue. The occasion coincided with the celebration of 121 years of Rotary International on 23rd February and the Club’s 5th Charter Day on 22nd February, adding special significance. Graced by Chief Guest PDG Prabhat Kedia and Guest of Honour, celebrity chef Atul Lahkar, the event highlighted the importance of sustainable community development. With enthusiastic participation from members and the local community, the initiative reflects Rotary’s commitment to “Service Above Self,” creating lasting grassroots impact and a permanent space for community activities.

Annadaan Seva Community Service

Annadaan Seva

The Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons is undertaking a six-month humanitarian initiative from January 2026 to June 2026, dedicated to the spirit of Annadaan — the noble act of serving food to those in need. Under this project, the Club will organise and serve wholesome lunch meals to approximately 100 beneficiaries each month at government hospitals or similar institutions, focusing on patients, attendants, and underprivileged individuals facing hardship. This initiative aims not only to provide nourishment but also to extend compassion, dignity, and emotional support to those going through challenging times. Through consistent monthly outreach, the project seeks to create a meaningful and sustained impact within the community. By combining service, empathy, and collective effort, the Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons reaffirms its commitment to humanitarian values and community welfare.

Diabetes Screening and Medical Care Camp

The Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons organised a Free Diabetes Screening and Care Camp in association with Heritage Khorikaa and Navarun Foundation at Heritage Khorikaa, Sonapur. Over 125+ people were screened and received personalised counselling from specialist doctors, while the nursing team from Hayat Hospital conducted the tests efficiently. Students of Hayat Nursing College performed an awareness skit based on the World Diabetes Day theme. Venue partner Atul Lahkar, Founder Heritage Khorikaa, introduced a diabetes-friendly platter to promote healthy eating. The event was well covered by local media, helping spread greater awareness in the community.

Felicitation of Teachers - Nation Builder Awards

As part of Rotary’s initiative to recognize educators who shape the future of our nation, the Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons organized a Nation Builder Award Ceremony at Springdale School, Guwahati. The event, held on 11th September 2025, witnessed the felicitation of 52 dedicated teachers for their remarkable contribution to education and society. The ceremony was marked by heartfelt appreciation, warm interactions, and inspiring words shared by both the teachers and members present. The club also took this opportunity to discuss the formation of an Interact Club in Springdale School, with encouraging interest shown by the school management and students. The event truly reflected Rotary’s spirit of honoring service and nurturing future generations.

Independence Day Celebration and Art Competition Community Service

Independence Day Celebration and Art Competition

Our club members participated in the Flag Hoisting Ceremony at Dalatpara LP School, Dhirenpara on the occasion of Independence Day; and organised an Art Competition among the students in the same school. The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag by School Authority, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, in the presence of students, teachers, and club members. The patriotic spirit of the day created a heartfelt and unifying atmosphere. An Art Competition was organised for the students of the school. The theme of the competition centered around patriotism and national pride. The competition saw healthy and active participation from 40 students. Prizes were awarded to the best three winners, and chocolates and cake and snacks were distributed to all students and teachers.
